Animal Rescue Corps responds to emergency rescue of abandoned cats
PRESS RELEASE:
Animal Rescue Corps responds to emergency rescue of abandoned cats in rural Sidonia
More than a dozen cats will receive urgent care through Operation Winter Whiskers as ARC activates emergency response and matching donation challenge
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dec. 17, 2025 — Animal Rescue Corps (ARC), a national nonprofit animal protection organization, has responded to an urgent emergency rescue involving more than a dozen cats abandoned following a tenant eviction in Sidonia, Tennessee.
ARC’s field team was on-site responding to the crisis, known as Operation Winter Whiskers, providing immediate assistance to the cats, who are in critical need of veterinary care, food and warmth. Local shelters and rescue groups lack the capacity to respond to a situation of this scale, prompting ARC to activate its emergency response protocols.
“This is exactly why ARC exists, to step in when animals have nowhere else to turn,” said ARC Executive Director Tim Woodward. “These cats are vulnerable and frightened and in urgent need of care. With the compassion and support of caring individuals, they can be given a second chance.”
Due to the severity and immediacy of the situation, ARC has activated its year-end matching challenge early. Through the generosity of two supporters, all donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $55,000 or until the start of the new year, whichever comes first.
The matching funds will directly support Operation Winter Whiskers and other large-scale emergency rescues.
