Residents React to Weekend Gun Violence in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn — Three shootings in three days have Brownsville Police looking for suspects. According to police, a man was shot at while driving near Josephine Street on Sunday; and just the night before in a nearby subdivision shots were fired into a crowd. No one was hurt in either incident, but cars were damaged in both shootings. Haywood County deputies are also working a shooting that happened early Friday morning where one man was shot in the thigh during a home invasion. Police said with the large number of shootings happening in Jackson, they’re hoping to rule out one thing. “We are talking with Jackson Police Department to make sure none of these are connected,” Captain Chuck Willis of the Brownsville Police Department said. Captain Willis said it’s too early in the investigation to tell if any of the incidents are related to the other. “Someone saw something or knows who did it and why,” Captain Willis said. “We just need people to come forward so we can get this wrapped up.” Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Brownsville Police Department.
