Affidavit released following arrest of Decaturville Elementary teacher

UPDATE (01/13/26–7:15pm): According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, “several” other victims have come forward in connection to the case. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who believes they may be a victim, or who has information related to this investigation, to contact them or the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

DCSO also says Maxwell has been moved to another holding facility.


DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — More details have been released surrounding the arrest of a local teacher accused of raping a child.

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, police arrested Allen Maxwell Friday after being notified of an alleged criminal incident happening between Maxwell and a student.

Maxwell is currently facing one charge of Rape of a Child. The Decatur County School System says it has since placed Maxwell on administrative leave and barred him from all school campuses, as well as having any contact with students or staff.

The district is cooperating fully with the Sheriff’s Office and is conducting its own review consistent with state law and district policy.

Monday, WBBJ 7 obtained the affidavit related to Maxwell’s arrest.
