Local leaders offer guidance to students as part of ‘Men on the Move Tour’
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local leaders are stepping up to try and make an impact on students.
About 20 men from across Jackson gathered at the entrance of Jackson-Central Merry Friday morning to greet all of the students. After this, they spoke to the freshman guys to just let them know they are there for them. Councilman Johnny Dodd tells us more about why this is essential.

“I think it is very important. I think it will make an impact because you never know what a kid is going through. I had a young man, at the end of this, come and say thank you all for coming because I had this funny feeling and it uplifted me,” said Councilman Dodd.
And that is what this is all about. Giving students an extra resource outside of teachers, parents, or guardians.

“We had men from all walks of life. We had employees from the city, we had counselors, we had pastors, and just ordinary people. It is not about a title. It is about being a man and standing for what is right,” said Councilman Dodd.

This is not just a one time thing. Not only will they return to JCM, but they will be there for other students as well.
“We’ll go to every school in Jackson or any organization that wants us to come out and support. We try to do mentoring as well in the community. So if anybody needs us to show up and support,” said Councilman Dodd.
Councilman Dodd says he has been in contact with multiple principals and is excited to kick this off once again. They call it the “Men on the Move Tour “and it started back in 2018.
