Haywood Co. Fire Dept. responds to structure fire on Carlyle Williams Road

PRESS RELEASE FROM HAYWOOD COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT:

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — On the morning of January 26, 2026, the Haywood County Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1248 Carlyle Williams Road, Bells, TN 38006 in Haywood County.

The alarm was received at 7:37 a.m. Fire units arrived on scene at approximately 8:03 a.m. and found the residence approximately 80% involved with fire.

A primary search of the structure was conducted, and it was confirmed that the occupants had already existed the residence prior to fire department arrival. The occupants were evaluated and treated on scene by Haywood County EMS.

Preliminary information indicates the fire appears to have originated in the kitchen area near a space heater. The incident remains under review.

Fire attack operations were delayed due to icy road conditions, which impacted response times and access to the scene.

Haywood County Fire Department responded with 18 Personnel, Two (2) Pumper/Tankers, One (1) Engine, and One (1) Brush Truck.

The Haywood County Fire Department would like to remind all residents that space heaters should be used with extreme caution. Keep heaters away from combustible materials and never leave them unattended.
