Man allegedly fires shot with small child inside the home

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson Police Department responded to a report of domestic violence on Wednesday, January 28.

Officers arrived at the home on Brentwood Drive and discovered a 31-year old man had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend inside the home. During the altercation with his girlfriend, the man allegedly discharged a firearm in the home while a small child was believed to be inside the residence.

Jackson Police Department SWAT team and hostage negotiators arrived on scene.

Officials said this remains and active and ongoing investigation.


In a later update, Jackson Police shared the following:

The suspect has since been taken into custody, and the small child has been safely recovered and is unharmed. The scene is secure, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. This incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
