Workers Fired Over Birthday Card Will Get Jobs Back

GIBSON COUNTY,Tenn.- The seven street workers fired last week for signing a birthday card were rehired Monday night, but not without some controversy. At first the Board of Aldermen upheld their firings, but when they voted one by one each was rehired. They were fired last Thursday, after the recipient of the card they signed complained. It made reference to a hairy hunk, but showed a puppy dog. The workers say they signed it off the clock for a local plumber who goes to church with the woman. The men will not get back pay.
