Rain Showers, A Few Storms Back Saturday, Cooler Again on Sunday

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

After some gusty storms and heavy rain at times on Thursday, the weather has been much nicer on Friday for all of West Tennessee. Severe weather is developing along a 1000 miles stretch of the country just to the west of us this evening. The system is coming our way on Saturday but atmospheric conditions are nowhere near as favorable for severe weather across the Mid South as they are just west of us. That being said some weak storms will still be possible and some pockets of heavy rain seem highly likely to come through during the afternoon on Saturday across West Tennessee. Expect a widespread 1/4-1/2″ of rain with some people seeing more and some seeing a bit less. Catch the latest on the timing and severity of the Saturday rain event coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

Take advantage of tonight as the weather will be absolutely perfect! Showers and probably a few weak storms will look to come back during the day on Saturday. Rain chances will start in the morning and increase in coverage and intensity during the afternoon and early evening hours. The rain will move out by Saturday night and cooler weather will be returning for Sunday. Some locations on Sunday morning could even fall into the upper 30s, but a frost or a freeze is not expected. The cooldown will be short lived as another warm up is coming back next week.

Friday morning lows started out in the low to mid 60s depending as the skies cleared out and the rain from Thursday moved out. By the afternoon, sunny skies dominated and highs fell just short of 90° reaching the mid to upper 80s for all of us. We have not hit 90° since October 1st, almost 200 days ago. Friday night is going to be warm as well with overnight lows falling down to only around 70°. Friday was close to the warmest day of the year so far for most of us. Rain is not in the forecast tonight!

THIS WEEKEND:

Another round of showers and storms appears to be on the way for Saturday. A few weak storms are looking likely at this time but the severe weather threat appears to be quite low for all of West Tennessee. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Saturday with rain chances starting in the morning, getting stronger in the afternoon and continuing into the evening hours. The winds will start out of the southwest but will turn to the west, and then to the northwest by Sunday morning. Unlike Thursday’s system, the front will actually move through this time cooling things off a bit for Sunday.

Highs on Saturday will reach the mid 70s but we may struggle to even make it up to 70° on Sunday. Saturday night temperatures will fall down to around 40° but upper 30s or low 40s are expected Sunday night. Sunday night will be the coolest weather we have seen in a couple weeks by the time it gets here. The northerly winds will not last long though as a southeast breeze will look to return early next week.
