Motorcycle riders 24 times more likely to die in crashes, safety experts warn

The month of May kicks off Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and we have some safety tips for you when riding them or for when you encounter them on the roads.

According to the NHTSA, more than 6,300 motorcycle riders were killed in 2023 and riders are nearly 24 times more likely to die in a crash than those in passenger vehicles.

Some of those accidents can be easily avoided by following road rules plus more.

“Everyone should be present and ready to ride. I think we are all a little distracted out there on the roads. For motor cyclists be prepared and three follow the rules of the road,” said Stevan Popovich, president at Cycle Gear.

Motorcyclists can also invest in extra safety gear like helmets and an airbag jacket to prevent injury.
