Jackson Central-Merry unveils cougar statue, legacy walkway
JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – Jackson Central-Merry alumni and supporters gathered Tuesday afternoon for a special unveiling at Hub City Stadium in Jackson.
The school introduced its new cougar statue and legacy walkway, a tribute to JCM’s history and the students, staff, and families who’ve been a part of it.
The ceremony, originally set for Monday but pushed back because of rain, took place at the stadium’s main entrance off Allen Avenue, between the former west campus and JCM Early College High.
“It’s just been a dream coming, as well as, with our home field. I’m excited that the supporters are excited, I’m excited that the students are excited; and as long as I can be a great representative for our district 4 position 2. I will do that,” said Andre Darnell, president and co-founder of the I AM JCM Coalition.
Students, alumni, and community members turned out in green and gold to celebrate what many called a proud and historic moment for the Cougars.
