Earlier this year, the sheriff’s department lost Deputy Derrick Bonham, who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 30, 2026.
To honor Deputy Bonham, the committee selected the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office as grand marshal.
“They have been the thing that’s kept us going and really, us and the family,” Sheriff Terry McDade said. “And for them to do this for us in honor of Derrick is pretty cool. A lot of people came here some just because we were on a float here with Derrick. It’s just heartwarming.”
The festivities will continue through next week.
