Jackson kicks off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson kicked off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a celebration at City Hall.
Mayor Scott Conger said the event is about honoring the vibrant contributions of AAPI residents and the diversity that makes Jackson a place to live and work. The mayor read a proclamation during the event this afternoon.
The ceremony also featured live music and dance performances.
“It is so so nice to see an initiative where the city has you know celebrated diversity by breaking down barriers, by understanding that when cultures come together, it’s something beautiful,” said Nivedita Prasanna, a dancer.
This year also includes an AAPI art gallery showcasing work by several local artists.
