West Tennessee voters head to polls Tuesday for key races across region
Madison County mayor, Gibson County sheriff among races on Tuesday ballot
JACKSON, Tenn. — Election day is Tuesday, May 5, in West Tennessee with several key races across the region.

In Madison County, the race is on for county mayor. In Gibson County, the sheriff election is underway.
Gibson County voters can find over 20 different polling places at gibsonelections.com as well as any other election information for that county. Almost all voters in Carroll County, Henderson County, Chester County and Crockett County can find their voting location by precinct on their counties’ election commission websites.
Voters need to bring proper identification to the polls.
“To bring to the polls, you can bring a driver’s license with your picture on it, passport, and they can all be expired, gun permit,” said Lori Lott, administrator of elections for Madison County.
On election day, voters should make sure they have a Tennessee driver’s license and know their polling location.
Officials say voting in Tennessee is secure and polling places have also hired volunteers to maintain the integrity of each election.
Lott said voters should not go to early voting sites on election day.
“We do not vote at the early voting site, you must go to your polling place,” Lott said. “They can go to GoVoteTN or call our office.”
Voters can also visit GoVoteTN.com to view candidate information and sample ballots.
In Madison County, the polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. All voters in Tennessee are required to have a Tennessee driver’s license or photo ID to vote.
