Funeral Arrangements Set for Lane College President

JACKSON, Tenn.- The date for visitation and for the funeral of the late Lane College president Dr. Wesley McClure has been set. Family Hours 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013 St. Paul CME Church 282 Middleton Street Jackson, Tennessee Open Visitation 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 Bledsoe Funeral Home 256 Middleton Street Jackson, Tennessee Celebration of Life 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 New St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 1670 N Royal Street Jackson, Tennessee Dr. McClure will be buried at Parkway Memorial Garden. President McClure passed on Dec. 6 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Chairman of the Lane College Board of Trustees, Bishop Lawrence Reddick, released the following statement, “President McClure loved Lane College with all his being, giving himself untiringly to its progress. His presidency has been marked with outstanding growth in the student body and the Campus, and with exemplary personal and professional recognition among his peers.” The Lane College Student Government Association has planned a prayer vigil for Tuesday at the 2013 at the J.F. Lane Health and Physical Education Building, beginning at 5:30 p.m. They are asking that the faculty and staff encourage all students to attend this sacred commemoration and that an article of red clothing be worn in a unified effort to show our love for their fallen leader.
