Pair Accused in String of Christmas-Themed Thefts

MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. – Televisions, guns, video games, credit cards and more are stolen in McNairy County, but victims said their Christmas cheer was also taken. “For them to steal a wreath and a Christmas tree, it just puts them on another level in my mind,” theft victim Belinda Moorey said. Investigators said Gala Brown and Cody Glover broke into a home, stealing two TVs, a XBox, guns and many more personal items, including pearl earrings which are still missing. “This is pretty sad because some of this was intended for some people’s Christmas presents,” Investigator JP Kellum with the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department said. The pair is also accused of stealing a purse from a car parked at a church parking lot and using a credit card found in it to make several purchases. If it was not for a call about a third theft, these alleged criminals may have never been caught. “The way this whole thing started was over a Christmas wreath,” Sheriff Guy Buck with the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department said. “A lot of people wouldn’t have even thought it was a crime worth reporting. Had that person not reported it though, we never would’ve ended up solving several cases.” Investigators responded to the call, and upon searching the house they found stolen property from the burglary, Redbox DVDs bought with the stolen credit cards and a missing Christmas tree. The couple now faces several charges, including aggravated burglary, theft, and credit card fraud. “It made me feel great when they were caught,” Moorey said. “It put my mind at ease as far as going to sleep at night.” Investigators said these accused thieves may be responsible for more crimes in the area.
