Pair Arrested After Short Chase Ending on 45 Bypass

MERCER, Tenn. — Two people have been arrested following a possible burglary that led to a vehicle and foot chase, Friday afternoon. Witnesses stated that two black males entered a home on the 800 block of Hwy 138 and had fled the scene in a red car. Officers located the car and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver then tried to evade deputies. A pursuit was initiated, and it ended when the suspects abandoned their vehicle in front of Deaton’s Carpet One on the 45 Bypass. Both suspects were taken into custody. The investigation is continuing and it is believed that the suspects may be responsible for additional burglaries.
