Dangerous Heat These Next Several Days
Weather Update – 11:05 p.m. – Sunday, August 11th —
*Heat is known as the “silent killer” because heat illness causes hundreds to thousands of deaths each year, so take extra caution over the next couple of days.*
Excessive heat watches and warnings go in effect starting Monday morning through Tuesday night. Heat indices will climb to dangerous levels during this period, exceeding 105°F Monday afternoon. We will see a peak in the heat by Tuesday afternoon, with heat index readings as high as 112°F!
Low chances of rain are in the forecast the next couple of days. An upper ridge building in the central U.S. will push further east. This will hinder rain chances. The next chance for rain will be ahead of an approaching cold front moving through Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Some of those storms could be strong at times, with the main threat being damaging winds.
