JACKSON, Tenn.- Tuesday was not a typical day for some Jackson firemen. The rescue of a tiny kitten was the center of a operation that took several people and hours. “Since I’ve been a career firemen, I’ve never rescued a cat,” Paul Billingsley, a Jackson firefighter, said. On Monday, stylists at the Euphoria Salon began hearing a kitten cry. The salon’s owner, Carla Simmons, said she did the first thing that came to mind. “We didn’t know who else to call, but the fire department,” Simmons said. For two days the kitten was trapped inside a pipe. For more than two hours, JEA and JFD worked to put a rope inside this pipe and pull him out. Simmons asked animal control to take the kitten to her vet, though she does not plan on adopting the fur baby. “I don’t think it will be a problem to get this kitten placed after what everyone witnessed today,” Simmons said. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News will have an update on the kitten and its adoption plans as we get it.
