DYERSBURG, Tenn. — A woman in Dyersburg accuses her neighbor of stabbing and killing her dog, after the pets allegedly fought the day before. The 27-year-old suspect, Michael Hendricks, was arrested Thursday evening and charged with felony intentional killing of an animal and resisting arrest. Dyersburg police say Linda Spain’s dog, Dallas, was allegedly stabbed in the throat in the back of Spain’s home on Ridgeway St. The dog was found around 4 p.m. Thursday. Spain says Hendricks’ Pit Bull, Chaoz, fought her German Shepard on Wednesday. Police say after questioning Hendricks at his home they found blood on his clothes and took him into custody. Hendricks’ fiancée says her daughter was walking Chaoz on a leash in front of Spain’s home Wednesday, and things got out of hand. “He got away from her and he’s a playful dog and he [saw] another dog and he wanted to go play and the dog attacked him,” Britney Preslar said, Hendricks’ fiancée. “I didn’t sleep for three days and [I’m] upset, all the other neighbors are crying,” Spain said. “I mean he was a good loyal dog he loved everybody.” Police say Hendricks’ is still in the Dyer County Jail and his bond has not been set. He’s scheduled to appear in court Monday.
