Local church donates check for more than $7,000

SOUTH JACKSON — A church in South Jackson donated thousands of dollars to a facility for young men. Church members at Love and Truth Church presented the check for more than $7,000 to Youth Town, a residential treatment center for teenage boys with addiction problems. The money was raised after the church’s first Love and Truth 5K at Malesus Park Saturday. A pastor at the church says they’ve partnered with Youth Town for years. “We know that this money is going to help these young men,” Christ Smith said, a pastor at Love and Truth Church. “They may have issues with insurance and to finish the program and this money will help them be able to finish and complete that program.” The winner of Saturday’s race was 15-year-old Jamel Carter. More than 100 people participated in the 5K.
