High gas prices prompt more Jackson staycations

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — As gas prices reach record highs, the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau says there is affordable fun to be had in West Tennessee.

The bureau says a lot of staycations in Jackson are easy to access, and some are free.

Some of their recommendations are the concerts at the amphitheater and live music on Thursday nights at Casey Jones Village.

Another hidden treasure they say is Rusty’s TV and Movie Car Museum on Hollywood Drive.

“Rusty has a great deal of cars out there and for people that grew up driving when I did you know, it had some experience in the late 80s and early 90s you’ll see a lot of familiar movie cars,” Lori Nunnery said, Executive Director of the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau

The concerts at the AMP in Downtown are free. Another recommendation is the Discovery Park of America in Union City.
