St. Jude opens research center on Memphis campus
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital says it has opened a new research center on its campus in Memphis.
The hospital said the new $198 million Kay Research and Care Center opened Thursday.
The center includes a surgery and intensive care facility, a global education center and a proton therapy facility.
St. Jude is considered a leading researcher of cancer and other life-threatening diseases that affect children. The hospital says it is working to increase the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent in the next decade.
Families of St. Jude patients pay nothing for treatment, travel, housing and food.
