Two shootings discovered within 20 minutes of one another have Jackson police trying to find out if they are connected. At around 12:50 a.m., Friday, officers were called to a home in the 100 block of Stratford Lane. The 28-year-old resident told officers a man he did not know had kicked in his door and started shooting. He was hit twice in the chest. Investigators say in plain sight, inside the home, was a substantial amount of marijuana. In all, officers report seizing 37 pounds of marijuana, 236 Hydrocodone pills, 15 Soma pills, eight Xanax pills and two Oxycodone pills. The drugs have an estimated street value of $61,400. Also seized, $46,000 in cash, three vehicles and several electronic items believed to have been purchased with the proceeds of drug sales. Just minutes after the victim left by ambulance, officers say a 20-year-old man from Humboldt arrived by private vehicle at the same Jackson hospital. He had multiple gunshot wounds and told officers he had been shot in Humboldt. Humboldt and Jackson police tell ABC 7 Eyewitness News they are trying to determine if he is telling the truth or if the two shootings are related. If you know who is responsible, contact the Jackson Police Department at (741) 425-8400 or CrimeStoppers at (731) 424-TIPS. One arrest was made at the house on Stratford Lane. Brittnee Richardson, 27, of Humboldt was with the victim at the time of the shooting. Officers say a small amount of marijuana (7.5 grams) was found under her purse resulting in a simple possession charge. ABC 7 Eyewitness News has learned Richardson is a recent hire with Corrections Corporation of America in Whiteville. A spokesperson says Richardson graduated from pre-service training on June 29 and was working in an administrative clerk’s role. The spokesperson would not comment on her current employment status. However she did say, “We can not maintain a person with a felony conviction, however we both know this case is in the early stages and charges are pending.” Richardson will be officially arraigned on the simple possession of marijuana charge in Jackson City Court, Tuesday morning.
