The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an alleged sexual assault at a local school. According to Sheriff David Woolfork, the incident was reported Thursday at Rose Hill Middle School. It allegedly involved a male teacher sexually assaulting a female student. Jackson-Madison County School Superintendent Buddy White said the accused teacher is suspended without pay during the investigation. “Any time there is an allegation made of this nature, certainly we have to take that allegation serious. If it is unfounded then we think we owe it to the person that is alleged to have committed the act, we owe them that courtesy to clear them,” said Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork. No charges have been filed in the case and the school system and Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit are continuing their investigations.
