Jackson police arrested a sex offender after a woman was reportedly tied up in her home. Police said they received a call Thursday around 6:30 p.m. that a woman was running into traffic with her hands tied behind her back near the intersection of North Highland Avenue and Old Humboldt Road. Officers spoke with the 22-year-old woman who said she had been attacked and tied up inside her home on Old Humboldt Road. She told police that the man responsible was walking on Ramblewood Drive. Authorities said found the suspect and identified him as David Jackson, 51. He is charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. Investigators said they learned Jackson had been doing work for the home owner and was allowed to live in an out-building behind the home for the past few months. On Thursday evening, Jackson was reportedly allowed in the home and at some point placed the woman in a choke hold and demanded her car keys. The victim refused and Jackson allegedly tied her hands behind her back and tied her feet to the bed frame. After searching for the keys, officers said Jackson returned, strangled the woman and threatened her with a box cutter if she lied to him then demanded money. The victim told Jackson to go look inside the car for the keys, then once he went outside, she got her feet loose from the restraints and ran for help. David Jackson is a registered sex offender who has convictions for rape in 1984, robbery in 2001 and aggravated robbery in 2004, all of which occurred in Shelby County. He is being held on $250,000 bond in the Madison County Jail. His next scheduled court appearance is February 16.
