The Gamma Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority Incorporated celebrated 104 years of service today in its annual Founders’ Day Sunday. First Baptist Church held the event. Members of the sorority spent their day not only remembering the Founders of their organization, but spent the day honoring deserving youth. More than 40 students that have shown leadership were recognized this afternoon. The categories included academics, community service, fine arts, and sports. Each student received an award and scholarship. “I think its very much a motivational tool. I think that young and old need to realize what they do for the good is valued and is important. So anyway the community can show someone praise is a great thing,” said Vice President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Kim Hicks.
