THP Trooper and Dispatcher of the Year Awarded

A Jackson-based Trooper and dispatcher have been named the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Best of 2011. For a second straight year, Dwayne Stanford has been named Trooper of the Year. He received his award last night in Nashville. The THP said the Lexington-native earned the distinction after several significant events throughout the year. They include an arrest in September, where Stanford was shot in his bullet-proof vest while arresting a couple during a traffic stop along I-40. Standford returned fire, killing the shooter. The dispatcher who assisted Trooper Stanford through the incident, including coordinating help and notifying his family, has been honored as Dispatcher of the Year. Max Milam is the communications supervisor for the Jackson District. He has been with the THP for 25 years. Congratulations to both of them.
