Couples Renew Wedding Vows at The Oaks
Though statistics said half of marriage ends in divorce, that has no always been true. That is because six couples at Jackson Oaks Assisted Living Center are proof. Friday, they renewed their vows and celebrated their combined 335 years of marriage. This year, two of the couples are celebrating 70 years together. “Well, it means a lot. We’ve had a good life,” said Mary Hazel Staples, who has been married to her husband, L.T. for70 years. “We’ve had four good children and i don’t know how many grandchildren.” The couples celebrated with a reception following the renewing of vows, with a special joint wedding cake. Each couple also received a box of chocolates.
