A fire this morning in Crockett County left four people homeless. A loud bang. That is what one of the three people sleeping in the house heard. A man glanced out the window and watched fire racing up his porch and on to the side of the house. “When we received the call I immediately seen the heavy smoke and heavy fire. So we knew we already had a working fire. We had a pretty quick response,” said Fire Chief Timmy Williams. 17 Alamo firefighters were on the scene. Five units responded to the fire in the 400 block of Twitty lane. The house is located 200 yards away from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department. “The house was pretty much considered totaled on the inside due to the fire and smoke damage. The house was an older house . The structure of it was consumed real quickly,” said Williams. This was the 12th residential fire this year in Alamo. Last year there were only eight residential fires all year in Alamo. “We had to lay a long length of hoses to get in but we did have a quick attack on that we started on the exterior attack and then went to the interior attack,” said Williams. “Unfortunately they are kind of out right now. This was the only place they had to stay. The didn’t have insurance. They were actually renting the property. We will see if we can assist those but unfortunately they pretty much lost everything they had today,” said Williams.
