Girl Scouts around the country are celebrating a big birthday this year…their 100th. Madison County Girl Scouts from 18 different troops gathered at Campbell Street Church of Christ to commemorate the special anniversary. There were a number of exhibits that Girl Scouts, young and old were able to enjoy. The scouts also received a special gift to commemorate their century in existence. “We are giving them pearls that Juliet Lowe wore that she sold her pearls to fund the first Girl Scout troops in 1912,” said Dee Dee Rives a Girl Scout leader. Girl Scouts have a nationwide membership of more than 3.2 million girls and adults.
