Law Enforcement Discusses DUI Legislation
Law enforcement agencies from across West Tennessee along with state and local leaders met in Jackson, Monday night.. The Governor’s Highway Safety Office sponsored the Wet Tennessee Law Enforcement Quarterly Meeting. Law enforcement leaders said the meeting gives all agencies a chance to network and learn from one another. Many law enforcement initiatives were highlighted during the meeting including new DUI legislation that recently went into effect at the beginning of the year. “We know that we have more in the way of checkpoints, DUI saturation, We’ve got to be addressing some of the issues at the bars,” said Sgt Joseph Gil of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. Statistics showed Madison County is below average in the number of traffic fatalities for the year so far.
