Shooting in Muse Park
Jackson police are searching for the gunman or gunmen who opened fire on two men in the middle of Muse Park in east Jackson, Monday evening. Two men were injured in the gunfire that left shell casings scattered across the basketball court of the park. One of the men was hit in the leg. The other suffered a graze wound to his face. Investigators say just minutes before the gunfire, two men were seen playing basketball. Witnesses say a third man argued with one of the players. Soon after, around 6:15 p.m., a white Chevrolet Impala with three black men inside drove up and shots were fired. Investigators are not saying if just one or more of the men in the car opened fire. Just down the road at Forest and Muse Streets, police found the victim who was shot in the leg. Police say the other victim at first went home to his apartment on Chapel Ridge Drive before being taken to the hospital. Officers believe he was an innocent bystander. Both victims are expected to fully recover from their injuries and are now recovering at home. Investigators believe the suspect or suspects are driving a 2005, white, Chevrolet Impala with a tinted windows and a spoiler.
