From the ashes of a cold winter night that ripped the heart out of the people in Adamsville came the birth of a new Saw Meal. “It’s big, if you think of all the support we have had out of the community. I can’t say enough for what they have done in stepping up to help us get through the process, ” said Co-owner Randy Geiger. Rose Hamm is a waitress at the Saw meal. She is one of 20 people that worked at the Saw Meal before the fire and now work at the new location. “It’s just like having family back. It’s kind of like everybody has been on vacation and we have all come back home now,” said Hamm. “We had prayer this morning before we got started and it was like home. A lot of our employees are back and it’s a family atmosphere that we have always had,” said Geiger. Ray Strawn is the number one fan of the Saw Meal. Before the fire he ate two meals a day at the restaurant seven days a week. “A grown man is not supposed to cry but when I went home that night after coming down seeing it burn I went home and tears come to my eyes,” said Strawn. According to fire officials an electrical fire caused the blaze at the restaurant this past winter. The owners have no intention to move back to the old location. It is still difficult to drive by the old location downtown. “It gives you a sick feeling. You know it’s like a void,” said Geiger. The Saw Meal has built its reputation not only good food, but also a place for all of Adamsville to gather. The Saw Meal opening again brings back a sense of normalcy. “I feel great today. I came in here while they were remodeling and everyday they amaze me more by how much progress they had made and how pretty they were making the new place,” said Strawn.
