Improvements Underway at Pringles Park
The biggest changes to Pringles Park will happen a long drive from home plate. Changes that should catch the attention of the 40,000 cars that pass by the park every day. “We’ve got one of the nicest parks in all of minor league baseball, but for the previous fourteen years on I-40 it didn’t portray exactly what we wanted to do,” said General Manager Jason Compton. Trees have been cut down to allow cars more time to see the park before they pass by. There will be a fountain near the sign similar to the one at Jackson Fairgrounds Park. Outside of Pringles Park, workers are putting in 14 hour days. The target completion date for the landscaping is set for April 11. “This will all be landscaped and smoothed out and the fountain will be there and it will have the rocks and all that around it. It will be really nice, ” said Equipment Operator Harold Johnson The scoreboard that has been in place since 2003 in right field will be coming down. A new state of the art $300,000 scoreboard will be in place May 6. “This is going to be night and day different just when you are looking at it. It doesn’t matter the time of day it is it’s gonna have sensors in it when the sun is shining on it cranks it up you are going to be able to see regardless,” Compton said. Workers were busy making sure the seats are clean for opening night and the signs ready. Promotions this season include 15 fireworks shows, reduced prices on tickets and food every Tuesday and Thursday. “We’ve got half pint brawlers coming for wrestling night, we have a 90’s night scheduled, we’ve got Dennis Haskins, Mr. Belding from “Saved By the Bell” out here doing an appearance,” said Compton. “This will be really nice. I would say this will probably be the nicest park in the Southern League,” said Johnson.
