Bike Rodeo Promotes Healthy Activity
Students at a Gibson County School get some tips today on staying safe while riding their bicycles. Medina Middle School students were taught information about the importance of safety equipment such as helmets that can help prevent injury in case there is a fall. Students also learned about the use of signals and the rules of the road. Safety experts said such information is important as children begin some independence by riding their bikes to locations without adult supervision. “We have a large population of students who walk back and forth from school and us bikes back and forth from school. so, i think it’s important that they learn that first of all, they’re protected. but also that hey learn to look both ways, how to use a bike, how to be safe on the road, said Stephanie Shutes a PE Teacher at Medina Middle School. Today’s bike safety event was funded by a state grant.
