West Tennesseans took to the streets and took a stand against crime in the Hub City and they are urging others to do their part as well. Close to 60 people gathered Thursday night and chanted as they walked through the streets of downtown Jackson. Organizers said this was an effort to show unity in support for Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen shot by a neighborhood watch captain and for other young people in the area who have lost their lives to violence. Participants said it is also a call to action for those who have let crimes go unresolved when they could have done something to help. “We have got to get to the point when we know someone has committed a crime we have to to go to law enforcement that is the only way it’s going to stop,” said Felicia Cherry-Collins the event organizer. Cherry-Collins said she hopes to have more marches like these in the future, but no dates have been set.
