Calvary Baptist Raises Cross

A north Jackson church continued its years-long tradition by raising a cross in front of their church building on Oil Well Road on Good Friday. Close to a hundred members of Calvary Baptist Church gathered on their front lawn for the special ceremony of songs and scripture, Friday afternoon. Members say they do this every year in hopes of reminding passersby about the real reason for the Easter season. “It’s one thing to try and think about it and create an image in your mind,” said Pastor Grant Gaines. “It’s another thing to actually see something visibly to help you kind of really picture what it was like.”
