UT Martin Gets Recycling Grant
Being green is turning into green for a northwest Tennessee university. Recycling efforts at the University of Tennessee-Martin are paying off. The school is currently listed in 20th place in the National Recycle Mania Competition. A grant through the program allowed the university to place 1500 recycling bins inside campuse residence halls. The effort is a friendly competition aiming to change behavior and raise awareness about waste reduction programs. The halls involved saved more than $5,800 in energy costs during the competition.
