Carroll County Lake Opening Delayed Again

The much anticipated opening of Carroll County‘s new lake is being delayed again. The county‘s Watershed Authority announced that the opening will be delayed until March 2013 due to continued construction on the road near the lake‘s entrance. “It is paramount that we address all safety concerns before we open Carroll County ‘s new crown jewel,” said Tommy Surber, Chairman of the Carroll County Watershed Authority. “We look forward to when everyone in the county and the many expected visitors can enjoy the lake’s relaxing waters and the surrounding area. This lake will be enjoyed by families and outdoor enthusiasts alike for years to come.” Officials originally hoped to open it this spring but because of weather, they pushed the opening to October 2012. The continued construction has now pushed the opening back five more months. Earlier this month, Huntingdon Mayor Dale Kelley said of the delays, “”It’s only been 28 years in the making. We created the legislation back in 1984. Now we’re in 2012 so patience has been the name of the day. That’s where we are today. We just need to exercise some patience.”
