Crime Victims Remembered in Lexington
Members of the Board of Probation and Parole were in Lexington, Thursday to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. For the fourth year, state officials planted trees at the Henderson County Criminal Justice Center. Officials said the agency places a high priority on providing victim services and these events are held each year to remind crime victims that they are there to assist them. The goal of the event is to raise awareness of the importance of crime victims’ rights in the community and that crime victims deserve to be heard. “Each tree grows, it provides strength and we hope that the victims will grow and have that strength that they need to be able to overcome those things and people that they have lost,” said Tina Fox, victim services director with BOPP. Other events are scheduled in other cities across the state including Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis, Chattanooga and Clarksville.
