JACKSON Tenn.- Shelves are fully-stocked in stores across West Tennessee, as retailers prepare for Tennessee’s tax-free weekend. “Everyday our business gets a little stronger with folks pre-selecting or going ahead and grabbing items they are fearful we will run out of,” said Michael Rhodes with JC Penny. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News spoke with West Tennessee mother Laura White who said she is not a fan of shopping in big crowds, but the savings are enough to bring her out anyways. “Every little bit helps me because I am single mother,” said White. Stores said they are expecting thousands of shoppers to take advantage of the tax holiday. Shoppers will not be the only ones cashing in. The weekend is one of the biggest day of sales for retailers. “I would say this is a very close second to black Friday,” said White. Tax-free weekend begins at midnight Friday and ends Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Clothing, school supplies, and bedding under $100 per item will be tax free. Computers under $1,500 will also be tax exempt.
