Vanderbilt will play 8 home games in 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Vanderbilt will play eight home games in 2014 with Tennessee capping the season in a return to tradition for the rivals.

Athletic director David Williams said the schedule released Wednesday by the Southeastern Conference was the league’s toughest yet with Missouri and Texas A&M and the pending launch of the SEC Network.

Vandy opens with four straight home games starting with Temple on Aug. 28, Mississippi on Sept. 6, Massachusetts on Sept. 13 and South Carolina on Sept. 20. Charleston Southern visits Oct. 11 with Old Dominion on Nov. 1 and Florida on Nov. 8.

The Commodores visit Kentucky on Sept. 27, Georgia on Oct. 4, Missouri on Oct. 25 and Mississippi State on Nov. 22.

Vandy concludes hosting Tennessee on Nov. 29 in a tradition interrupted in recent years.
