Man charged with stealing vintage guitar

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Tennessee man has been charged with stealing a 1979 Gibson Les Paul guitar worth $4,000 and later pawning it.

WKRN-TV in Nashville reported (http://bit.ly/1wFt4eU ) that police arrested 36-year-old Donald Nelson on Tuesday. Officer say Nelson broke into a home in late May and stole several musical instruments, including the vintage guitar.

Police say Nelson pawned the guitar in July for $1,000.

Nelson told officers he bought the guitar from a woman in Bowling Green, Kentucky for $1,500.

The guitars were selling online Wednesday for prices ranging from $1,300 to $4,100.

Nelson was booked into the Nashville jail on a charge of theft of property with a bond of $7,000. Jail records did not list an attorney.
