First Tennessee Promise class to have 20K students

JACKSON, Tenn. — More than 20,000 students plan to be part of the Tennessee Promise inaugural class. Tennessee Promise covers tuition for students to attend community colleges such as Jackson State or technical college for two years. Reports show more than 58,000 high school seniors initially applied for the scholarship. The executive director of Tennessee Promise says he expects about 18,000 students to stick with the program.
