Man accused of stealing appliances from Jackson apartments

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man who appeared Monday in city court is charged with stealing several appliances from a Jackson apartment building. Justin Carey Hampton is accused of stealing the appliances from four unoccupied apartments on Tinkerhill Cove, according to court papers. Officers responded to the reported thefts around 9 a.m. Friday. The manager of the apartments told police the stoves, refrigerators and dishwashers all were missing from the four apartments along with a water heater. The total value of the missing property is listed as about $3,400. Investigators developed Hampton as a suspect, and he provided a statement admitting to taking the appliances, according to an affidavit. Hampton is charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property over $1,000. His bond is set at $25,000.
