Weather Update: 10:30 PM Saturday
This afternoon was mild for being half-way through winter. There were a few passing clouds but no other activity across the region. High pressure will keep things mild for one more day across West Tennessee. A cold front will approach West Tennessee by Sunday night and this will bring much colder air and the prospect for rain and snow into West Tennessee.
Tonight will be a cold one across West Tennessee as temperature fall around the freezing mark. Skies remain mostly clear and we may see a few passing clouds but things remain calm across the area.
Sunday, again, will be another mild day for the most part. Afternoon highs are expecting to be a few degrees warmer than they were today. Temps are expecting to reach into the mid and upper 50s. By Sunday evening, the cold front will start to push into West Tennessee. This will return thicker clouds into the region and the chance for a few sprinkles on the windshield as you leave your Super-Bowl parties. Not a lot of accumulating rain is expected.
Going into Monday the cloudy skies remain and much colder air is ushered into the area. The low pressure system attached to the cold front will be moving off to the north and east but we will get a little bit of the wrap-around moisture from this. With the cold temps and moisture in the atmosphere, this could result in a few snow flurries. The snow is not expecting to be widespread or hindering by any means. Those areas that do see some spitting snow could be dealing with a light dusting. This isn’t expecting to impact travel either.
By Tuesday morning there could be some lingering flakes early in the morning. By the noon hours though, things will start to clear up across West Tennessee and temperatures will try to rebound by the end of the week.
