Weather Update – 10:00 p.m. Tuesday

There’s a lot to watch in this very active forecast for West Tennessee. We may end up going from high temperatures in the 30s to highs in the 70s within a week. Don’t forget – we almost did that this week when we had a high temperature of 32°F today, but last Tuesday it was 70°F. There’s going to be a chance for snow showers Wednesday night in northwest Tennessee especially but that may not be the only chance for snow in the 7-day.

ForecastHighs02092016

Tonight, skies are clearing out at the moment and temperatures continue to fall. We’ll bottom out in the teens Wednesday morning with a sunny start to the day. Winds will be lighter tomorrow but we will see clouds return at lunchtime with cloudier conditions through the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will only peak in the mid to upper 30s tomorrow evening.

Radar02092016

An area of snow showers is developing in the Northern Plains and may end up making it’s way into West Tennessee Wednesday evening before weakening completely. I don’t think we’re looking at any significant accumulation, but it would be possible for a few isolated areas, primarily near the Tennessee-Kentucky border, to get a quick dusting. We’ll be dry on Thursday with warmer temperatures that should get back into the mid 40s as high pressure builds in. Colder air will return for the end of the week with temperatures stuck under 40°F again.

Tomorrow02092016

We may see snow return with the next system that is currently to result in mostly rain across the Mid-South, but that may change. We’re watching it! Stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the very latest updates to this forecast.

Have a good night and stay warm!
