A Winter Weather ADVISORY remains in effect for Lake, Obion, Weakley, Henry, Dyer, Gibson, Carroll and Benton counties until 6pm. Travel will continue to be dangerous with snow and ice on some roads in those areas through that time.

Weather Update – 10:15 a.m. Sunday

We’ve received multiple reports of accidents and dangerous conditions on roadways in northwest Tennessee due to snow and ice this morning. Freezing rain and sleet are still coming down in those areas with snowfall farther north into western Kentucky. If you live in northwest Tennessee and planned to drive today, either take it slow or just wait to travel until this afternoon when temperatures get warmer allowing the melting process to begin.

This afternoon, temperatures will be warmer allowing for falling precip to change from ice to rain across most of West Tennessee, but there could be some light accumulation of ice still occurring in parts of West Tennessee that border or are close to Kentucky.

Overnight, all of West Tennessee is expected to see precip change to rain. Road conditions could still be slick in those northern-most counties but it currently looks like those conditions will be more favorable for travel by Monday morning for those who still have to go to work and school on President’s Day.
