Weather Update: 8:45 PM Sunday
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are slowly coming to an end. There are still a few scattered storms moving through but at this time the threat for severe activity continues to drop.
The storms that moved through brought heavy rain and strong winds. There were a few local storm reports of pea sized hail from Atwood and Mercer. There were also reports of hail and downed trees around Paris Landing State Park. Pea sized hail was reported in Selmer along with downed power lines, trees and flash flooding around Country Club Lane. Crews will work through the night to restore power from those lines that are down.
Tonight, there could still be a few pop-up, isolated showers or thunderstorms. The likelihood for widespread activity is low for the remainder of the evening with temps falling into the upper 50s.
Monday will start on a dry note but more showers and thunderstorms are expected to return by the early afternoon. Temps stay cooler than average for this time of year, with afternoon highs only reaching into the low 70s.
We will stay cool for Tuesday and we also keep a low chance for scattered showers. An unsettling pattern sets up on Tuesday and we could get lingering showers behind the front on Tuesday. A reinforcing cold front will set up Wednesday bringing a slight 20% chance for rain both Tuesday and Wednesday. Not everyone will see rain on Tuesday and Wednesday as we aren’t looking at widespread activity but we could still have a scattered shower or thunderstorm move across West Tennessee.
Temps remain below average all week long. By the end of the week a warming trend will take us into next weekend.
