Powerball Jackpot Up to $300 Million

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Saturday drawing for the Powerball Jackpot is estimated at an incredible $300 million. Lottery officials are urging players to get their tickets early. Lottery outlets are expected a rush of buyers into the evening, Saturday. Tickets for the Saturday drawing must be purchased by 8:59 p.m. CT. Each ticket costs $2. Powerball is played in 45 jurisdictions, including Tennessee. The record jackpot for the game was $590.5 million, won in May by a single player in Florida. Proceeds from the Lottery in Tennessee, benefit education scholarships. Since the Lottery began selling tickets on Jan. 20, 2004, it has raised more than $2.7 billion for these programs.
